A lovely set of 7 vintage pewter Julep cups by Hanle and Debler, early Mid Century. These Julep cups feature the traditional tapered design and are heavier in weight, well-crafted. Truly a lovely set.
This set includes 8 cups but one has a ding, so we're pricing this set for 7 cups. Cheers.
A bit about this manufacturer: Hanle & Debler was founded in New York, New York in 1933 by Adolph Hanle who trained as a spinner near Stuttgart, Germany and later worked for Samuel Kirk from 1929-1932. The company was acquired by the Kirk Corporation in 1971.
Measurements: Each cup is 4 1/4" tall x 3 1/4" in diameter
Maker/Era: Hanle & Debler, early Mid Century
Hallmarks: Each cup is hallmarked on the bottom: "Hanle & Debler" and "Distinctive American Pewter"
Condition: Good vintage condition with mild signs of age. We like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage sets, so here's a full summary:
1) There's general "age" (that comes purely from time) as well as what we refer to as "surface wear" that includes micro fine scratches, scrapes, etc (from past handling, how they were stored etc)
2) A few of the cups have fine scratches to the very bottom interiors (likely how they were cleaned in the past) - see photo
3) One cups is every so slightly not perfectly round at the top opening (it's very, very subtle)
4) One cup has a ding (see photos # 1, 2, 5 and 7, lower right) and is not included in the pricing of this set
In short, these cups are in good vintage condition but do show mild signs of age. They display beautifully.
