A lovely glassware set by West Virginia Glass Co. This lovely pattern is called "Owls" and features whimsical vibrant gold owls perched on a branch. The photos don't do this set justice. The gold is so vibrant and shiny we had a tough time capturing photos and placed a white cloth inside all pieces, so the pattern would be most visible. Truly a stunning set. we've included West Virginia's original ad for this pattern, see the last photo (please note: this ad does not come with the set and is purely for reference). Cheers!
8 pieces total: 1 pitcher, 6 rocks glasses, 1 glass stirring wand
A bit about this vintage glassware manufacturer: West Virginia Glass Specialty Company (WVGS) was based in Weston, West Virginia and created some of the most stunning glassware from 1929-1987 and was especially well-known for their hand-blown glass. In the 1950s and 60s, WVGS created a number of heavily embossed and/or Hollywood Regency style patterns that, similar to Culver, contained real 22k gold in the paint. They also did a number of colored glassware sets (pink glass, purple glass, blue glass). This brand came with a gold foil sticker that said "West Virginia Glass Company".
Hallmarks: The pitcher and one of the glasses have the West Virginia foil sticker.
Measurements: The pitcher measures 8 3.4" tall x the rocks glasses measure 3 1/4" tall x 3" in diameter; the glass stirring wand measures 9 3/4" in length
Condition: Very good vintage condition with mild signs of age. No chips or nicks. The glass clarity is perfectly clear. This set has been in a cabinet for years and doesn't appear to have seen much use. The only gold loss we see is in several areas around the top gold band on the pitcher. All gold owls are pristine. And the thick gold rims on the glasses are also in great shape. Overall, this set is in very good condition with very minor wear in a few places on the pitcher. It displays beautifully. Cheers.
Please note: Mid Century glassware often has imperfections (i.e. tiny bubbles in the glass, or a "seam" from when the glass was being created, an extra spot of gold or enamel that made it on a clear part of the glass, etc -- purely the nature of vintage glassware).
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery. Please note: we're not making a penny on shipping. This set is very heavy in weight and will be packed well to ensure safe arrival!
