A lovely vintage Wolf stirrup cup. Made of pewter, this stirrup features a Wolf head upper and "cup" bottom and rests perfectly on its heads/ears when turned upside down.Extremely heavy in weight, this stirrup cup is solid. The detailing is stunnning, from the Wolf's "fur" to his teeth. Truly a lovely stirrup cup.

Hallmarks/era: None; Mid Century

A quick summary on this type of cup and where the name originated: Stirrup cups were given to guests when they were leaving and had their feet in the leather stirrups (of the horse). It was also traditional to serve wine/port/sherry at the meet, prior to the fox hunt, so the stirrup cup was taken by a rider who was about to depart.

Condition: Good vintage condition with mild but noticeable signs of age/wear. There's general "surface wear" to the pewter and also general "age" that occurs to pewter over the years. And the rim isn't 100% round -- it's 99% round -- it's very, very subtle (see photos #8 and #9). It's hardly noticeable, but we like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage pieces. There's mild tarnish to the very bottom interior of the cup. Overall, this stirrup cup is in good vintage condition with mild signs of age/wear. It displays beautifully. We have another stirrup cup by this vintage maker that's in slightly different condition -- as well as other stirrup cups and stirrup jiggers. See other listings (under the "stirrup cups" and "jiggers" sections).

Measurements: 5 1/4" tall x just shy of 3" in diameter
