A rare and stunning silver-plated Repousse cocktail shaker by Webster & Sons, early 1900s. No words can express how stunning this piece is. The pattern features a variety of Dutch figural scenes. Every detail about pattern is spectacular, from the heavily embossed Repousse scenes (which we tried to capture in the photos) to the intricate detailing of the lid's edges (and the base of the cups edging) to the design/trim along the bottom of the shaker. The base of the shaker is simply gorgeous with a "scalloped" shape and intricate detailing. Both the spout cap and lid have the original cork. This vintage shaker is solid/extremely heavy in weight. The handle of the shaker features an Art Deco design/shape. Truly a breath-taking piece that has all pieces (lid, cap, and corks).
Maker/year: Webster & Sons, early 1900s
Hallmarks: E G W & S" (EG Webster & Sons) can be found the on the bottom of the shaker (>>please note: there are some very small etched numbers that can also be found on the bottom near the hallmark; way back when, this was a way that people would be able to identify pieces that might be stolen; they could reference the number etched onto the piece to confirm it was stolen and belonged to them -- see photo #8 for reference).
Measurements: The cocktail shaker measures approx 10 1/2 tall
Condition: Good vintage condition overall with mild signs of age and tarnish. The cork in the lid as well as the cap are in great shape (a rarity). The interior shows very mild age but is clean and in good shape overall. We like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage sets, so here's a full summary of any flaws/signs of age:
1) The lid of this shaker has a shallow but noticeable dent on the top (we tried to capture it in a photo, see photo #5)
2) There's some very superficial, small scratches on the bottom of the shaker
3) There's tarnish present (we have not polished this piece)
4) The interior of the shaker is clean and in good shape overall
In short, this rare shaker is in good condition but does show signs of age and tarnish. The silver-plating is in great condition overall. The cork in the lid and cap are completely in tact. Truly a stunning set that displays beautifully. We can only upload 10 photos. More photos available upon request.
**Please Note: we typically do not test our shakers for leakage. We offer a variety of vintage shakers (both usable as well as collectible/display only). We are happy to put our shaker through a thorough leakage test (which involves filling it with liquid and rigorously shaking it) -- please message us if you'd like us to test this particular shaker. Cheers!
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces well to ensure safe delivery.
