A lovely "Rye" decanter by Gaite for Gay Fad, Mid Century. This heavy glass decanter is a frosted white with a Paris scene. The stopper is the most magical part with a heavy glass squared finial with a cursive "R" for Rye. The pattern on the decanter a deep black and red scene of Place Dauphine. Place Dauphine is a famous triangular public square in Paris known for its romantic atmosphere and stunning 17th century buildings/architecture. 

A quick summary about this glassware maker: Gay Fad Studios was founded by Fran Taylor in Detroit, Michigan in 1939 before she relocated the business to Lancaster in 1945. The studio painted glassware by hand, with various designs. It remained in operation until 1963 when it was sold to Santa Claus Inc., an Iowa company. The "Gaite Collection" was a specific collection of patterns by Gay Fad.

Hallmarks: "Gaite" can be found in black small lettering (see photo) on the lower right front

Condition: Very good vintage condition. If this decanter was used, it wasn't much. The glass is in great shape. The pattern is vibrant. The glass finial and cork are in good shape. Beyond minor age that comes purely from time, this decanter is in very good shape.
