A stunning antique sterling silver bar measure by Blackinton & Co. The simple design and sleekness of this silver measure is what makes this piece so stunning. Heavier in weight, this piece has a solid feel to it. Truly a lovely vintage measure.
Hallmarks: "Sterling" and an "R" and "B" and Co" along with "1485" is embossed inside the smaller jigger
Maker/era: Blackington & Co, 1930s
A bit about this vintage maker: Founded in 1862 by Walter Ballou and Roswell Blackinton in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, and was owned and operated by members of the same two families for many years. The original trademark was used until c. 1900. Their products have consisted mostly of sterling silver and 14 karat gold novelites, flatware, holloware and dresserware, with a small amount of costume jewelry. Bought by Wells, Inc, Attleboro, Mass. , June 1967.
Condition: Good vintage condition overall but with noticeable signs of age. We like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage pieces, so here's a full summary:
1) There's general age and surface wear inline with a piece that's 90 years old
2) The sterling is in good condition overall but does show mild surface wear, "age spots" (that will likely not polish away) and tarnish
3) There are some micro shallow dings on both jigger ends -- see photos
4) The smeller jigger end isn't perfectly round (it's very subtle but we want to be thorough) -- see photo
5) The jigger's handle is "hollow" (see photo #8) -- which gives it a bit of a rustic feel
6) There's age and tarnish at the "base" of the jigger (that connects both jigger ends) -- see photo
In short, this piece is in good vintage condition overall but does show noticeable signs of age and wear. Truly a breath-taking bar measure.
Measurements: Approx. 4 3/4" in length (measured from the top of the wood handle to the jigger)
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery. If purchasing multiple pieces, we'll combine shipping to a single box (or as few boxes as possible) and will automatically reimburse you for all shipping overages paid.
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage or damage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage. Cheers!
