A stunning set of 5 sterling silver Art Deco rooster cocktail / olive picks, in their original box, 1920s. It doesn't get any more stunning than this set! The detailing and texture of these picks (from the rooster's feathers to the beak) is simply incredible. The interior of the case is a black velvet and white silk interior lining and a brass clasp while the exterior has an animal print texture . Truly a breath-taking Art Deco set that has a magical feel to it.
Please note: this set comes with 5 picks and 1 case. There's a spot for a 6th pick which is not present.
A bit about this vintage manufacturer: The firm Adie Brothers Ltd was based in Birmingham, with premises at Frederick Street. The hallmarks for Adie Brothers were registered circa 1902. They later became Adie Brothers Ltd when they registered their new hallmarks in 1922. In 1906 Adie Brothers became incorporated with the firms McKewan & Adie (manufacturers of silversmiths, jewellers and gold) and Edward Souter Barnsley (case and box makers). The firm was managed by Percy Adie until 1901, and then it was taken over by Tony Adie and Frank Taylor. In the late 1960s the firm became a part of British Silverware, and subsequently closed in 1968.
Condition: Very good vintage condition overall. The picks are all straight. There's mild tarnish on a few of the rooster finials. The box is in good condition overall however it does show age and wear. In short, this set of picks is in very good vintage condition overall with noticeable wear to a few areas of the exterior of the box.
Hallmarks: Each pick has as series of hallmarks including the Adie Brothers Ltd Hallmark (see photo)
Measurements: Each pick measures just shy of 3" in length
